Aur Esenbel warns the satirical website could cease publication following numerous threats from suspected Russian mobsters
There has been national news coverage for the editor of The Daily Squib, Aur Esenbel.
Mr Esenbel, a client of book PR agency Palamedes, has been featured in The Sun, both in print and online, after revealing that the satirical news website could cease publication after nearly 20 years following numerous death threats and cyber-attacks from suspected Russian mobsters.
Writers at The Daily Squib were warned they would be killed for questioning the size of Vladimir Putin’s manhood and suggesting the despot’s real reason for invading Ukraine was his 1.2cm-long “micropenis”.
In a tongue-in-cheek editorial, ‘medical experts’ said the debilitating impediment makes Putin “constantly angry” and explains why he “creates useless wars everywhere”.
The story sparked fury from irate Russian readers, who vowed to murder the journalists involved.
In a string of terrifying website comments, reporters were told they would be shot, stabbed, and run over for daring to mock the tyrant.
The Daily Squib was also targeted in three separate Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, which aim to cripple a website by overwhelming it with huge volumes of internet traffic.
The publication was previously bombarded with hate mail for its satirical ‘exclusives’ about Putin’s “penchant for fried eggs” and his preference for kinky sex.
But the physical threat to its journalists is now so great that the magazine could cease production later this year for their safety.
