Monty Python film editor Doyle says Life of Brian is more accurate about Jesus than the Bible
There has been mass national news coverage for Monty Python film editor Julian Doyle, who claims that celebrated comedy film Life of Brian offers a more accurate representation of Jesus’ life than the Bible.
The multi-award-winning feature film director, playwright, editor, scriptwriter and author’s comments come as the film, once described as the blasphemous movie ever made, celebrates its 45th anniversary.
Mr Doyle, who edited Life of Brian, also said that the film is no more offensive to Christians than Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and should never have been banned.
Coverage has included the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Metro, and Daily Express.
There has also been further pick-up in the comedy press including Cracked.
In addition to his work on Monty Python’s Life of Brian, Mr Doyle is most famous for being Special FX photography and production manager for Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and shooting the special effects for Terry Gilliam’s classic Time Bandits and Brazil, which he also edited.
His latest book, The After-Life of Brian, has been released in alignment with Life of Brian‘s anniversary and provides a fascinating and thought-provoking investigation into the life of the historical Jesus.
It is the culmination of more than 40 years’ research, initially inspired while Julian was working on the film in Tunisia.
