The agency will be assisting in bringing Stephen's forthcoming memoir of his father, broadcaster Sir Richard Francis, to market
Book PR agency Palamedes has been appointed by author Stephen R. W. Francis to assist in bringing his forthcoming book to market.
The consultancy will be working with Stephen, who recently retired as CEO of a FTSE 100 company, on the publication of a memoir about his late father, Sir Richard Francis.
Sir Richard was a larger-than-life BBC broadcaster who rode the wave of the BBC’s golden age, who reached the top, was sacked controversially and yet bounced back.
Leading the BBC’s News and Current Affairs broadcasting, a field in which it led the world, for many years, Sir Richard, was the master of the big events: UK General and US Presidential Elections, and the coverage of the Apollo Moonshots.
Towards the end of his time with the BBC, which ended controversially with his sacking in 1986, he became a fighter for press freedom, resisting the pressures of Margaret Thatcher in the BBC’s coverage of Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
Stephen’s memoir draws upon newly discovered documents and recordings which will shed new light on the inner workings of the BBC during its most turbulent time.
